A privilege...

I'm thankful to the Lord for giving me the chance to encourage the church last Sunday . I made a write up in the church bulletin entitled "Why jot down sermon notes?"and exhorted a few things about it with the aid of a power point presentation .
It is my prayer then that this effort would at least challenge us to love learning ...

Why jot down “sermon” notes?
by:Ma. Eden G. Roasa

"I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”
-this quote from an ancient Chinese philosopher hits the heart of the teaching –learning process. As an educator, I do subscribe to the principle that the more senses a learner utilizes at one time, the more knowledge he/she will retain, remember, comprehend or even apply in creative ways to real life situations. Therefore, learning by listening to and seeing in the form of demonstration, power point presentation or taking down notes is better than just mere listening to a lecture.

For us to be able to obey God’s word, our Lord Himself in the Scripture instructs us to write:

  • His message

Habakkuk 2:2 -Then the LORD told me, "I will give you my message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance. (CEV)

  • AND His commands,

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 -Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. Write down copies and tie them to your wrists and foreheads to help you obey them. Write these laws on the door frame of your homes and on your town gates.

Furthermore, studies show that over a period of 3 days, the retention of learning is as follows:

10% OF WHAT WE READ
20% OF WHAT WE HEAR
30% OF WHAT WE SEE
50% OF WHAT WE SEE AND HEAR
70% OF WHAT WE SAY
90% OF WHAT WE SAY AS WE DO

Therefore we can learn by reading, listening and watching but we will learn better if we are actively involved in the learning process.
We hope that you are encouraged not only to jot down the sermon notes but do as well the personal reflection and life application in the sermon notes provided for you.

James 1:22-25

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man, who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.

TO ALL OF YOU ( edited version)

this was taken last year,Dec.2003 at Jane St.,our old place...

Christmas 2003 celebration at the Rivers of Life International Ministries (ROLIM)

Kumusta na sa inyong lahat!

I have been silent for a couple weeks already with no email and no forwarded messages and you must be wondering WHY?

First of all, we just moved to a new place which I really love. We can actually view everything from where we are ... the tennis courts, the swimming pool, the park, the winding road, the small creek and the plants and the trees ( especially now, when most of the leaves are turning gold ) .

YES .. it's fall and soon winter is coming !!!
YES, but I already made a choice,
WINTER will never ever make me feel depressed again.
NO and never again.
There is actually no bad season ;
it just so happened that there are four seasons
and God made them for a reason.

I really thank the Lord because I know my family could finally say," HOME SWEET HOME" though I know He has one prepared for us still ...and that will be the best.

Another thing is ...
I've been writing.
Well, I actually put this blog.
A blog is an easy-to-use web site,
where you can quickly post thoughts,
interact with people, and more. All for FREE.

I LOVE TO WRITE

For many years, I haven't recognized my gift in writing.
Yes, my highschool English teacher had been very strict with me ( yes, the memories are still vivid ) and I always made her angry. But I guess I have many things to thank her for not just because I had to read and study Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice in my first year twice but for so many things that I have learned from her- Robert Frost, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ernest Hemingway etc...
and most of all the rules in GRAMMAR but NEVER MIND...

I love to keep a journal then and up to now. Writing has helped me a lot while growing- up without my parents at my side. Feeling so alone, it helped me to express what and how I felt. My pen and paper have been my companions in my life's journey. I feel so blessed to learn how to express myself through this medium. Actually, Diane and Danica love to write too and I guess they write much better than I do. They keep journals but the busy life here in Canada steals away their time to write.

NO JOB ...NO PRESSURES ...
I WAS ABLE TO INVEST MY TIME IN WRITING...

God has a purpose for keeping me out of job for a year. This is one thing that made me feel depressed for a while, so I thought. Well, from being a very busy school teacher and principal I found myself doing nothing, seemingly I thought. But I have never seen my life as productive as it is now. From doing household chores, writing articles for our newsletter and website, volunteering to do something for friends, church mates and church ...well they really preoccupy and make me happy.

Billi Lim said in his book " Dare to Fail",
" Don't be worried if you are out of job. This period could be a very good time to read, listen, observe, expose yourself and re-analyze yourself and your goals. Treat it as a period of DIS employment not unemployment. You will be surprised by the types of opportunities that will come your way during this period if you keep your eyes and ears open..."

HERE IT IS ...
http://momeden.blogspot.com

I've been working on it for a couple of weeks already and I hope I can post my past writings there too in the future. Well, I'm beginning to do that. You see, I still have other blogs.

I was spending my precious time so that my blog will be interesting and relevant. (I don't want to bore you) . I really want to make it look nicer but I guess I don't have the luxury of time to do that . So, I will definitely do that in progression; I really can't do it in a day.

FINALLY...
I was happy writing and keeping it to myself but I finally made up my mind to tell you about this when I kept receiving comments and emails about it from most people I don't even know.

Please read on...

I have enjoyed your blogging. You remind me of my mother, she passed away 2 years ago. I miss her so. She truly was a woman of God. I really enjoyed what you wrote about "Being a Mom" I have a daughter ~ Teena, 9 years old. Life is not about me but what God wants me to be and how he wants me to train her. I thank God for my husband who also is a Christian and agrees that raising our daughter for God is the most important job. May God bless you....

The Lord is Good......

Yes, as I look back and take a short glimpse of the past
I definitely say, THE LORD IS ABSOLUTELY GOOD!
but my memory is poor,
the journals that I keep help me
see how good the LORD
has been to us all these years...
YES, it's really worth keeping one .
It's actually the chronicle of my soul.
As E. Elliot puts it
"These are chronicles of growth:
mental, emotional, and spiritual.
It is astounding to go back through them
and learn things
I had completely forgotten.
It is wonderfully faith-strengthening
to see that indeed "all the way my Savior leads me,
hears my prayers, supplies my needs,
teaches me of Himself.
A journal is a record of His faithfulness
and my own faithlessness too--
which teaches me to value His grace and mercy. "

Yes, I put all my thoughts, insights,
desires, longingness ...
yes, almost everything in it
My dialogues with the Lord.
What I say to Him,
what He seems to be saying to me
about some struggle or issue or need.
I pour out everything to Him ...
because the truth is ...
I cannot hide anything from Him.
Yes, I tell Him everything
even my idiosyncrasies that would later
bring me to repentance

THANK YOU LORD
for Your lovingkindness and wisdom.

...the lessons I learned from reading of Scripture
and the ways I should apply them in my life.
Yes I always l find new things each time I read it.

..even the quotations, the words of songs
which I want to make my own.

...my reasons for thanksgiving.

...the things I'm praying about.

Yes, reading my journal later will reveal answers to prayer
I would otherwise have overlooked.

THANK YOU, LORD

PONDERING THE AWESOMENESS OF YOU

****************
What a beautiful morning of a brand new day
I gaze upon YOU and begin to pray

**************
Though feeling odd what this day brings
Mere thought of You my heart sings

**************
Steering close at the brush of the wind
I feel your presence, O Faithful Friend

***************
Seeing the grass and the lilies bloom
You’re earnest of them so I assume

**************
Turning my eyes across the sky
I praise Your Name, lift YOU on high

***************
Eagerly viewing the stars at night
Stand amazed Oh Lord, It’s you I delight

**************
When I consider the heavens
And the work of your hands

****************
What is man that you are mindful of him?
Mere human that you care for him

***************
So while I stand here gazing up in space
Remindful of your abounding grace

*************
Your unfailing love Oh Lord is great
Too awesome to captivate

***************
Pondering your greatness and goodness too
Profoundly inspires me in the AWESOMENESS OF YOU

***************
Having You, what a wonderful prize
Breathlessly awed and mesmerized

To Diane and Danica - ON BEING A MOM

OH MY!!! How fast you've grown.
I know you would soon answer to God's most wonderful of all callings to women ..
this blessed gift from God of
....

BEING A MOM

To my dearest Din and Ica ,

This message, "Being a Mother"summarizes and expresses the things that I wanna tell you; the excitement, joy, agony, fears, aprrehensions of being a mom .But I believe despite of all these, you will still choose to share with me the fulfillment of God's calling of being a mom. Seemingly though, God is still teaching you to wait for the right time.

We, "moms" are not replacements for God. We're just His stewards. You should recognize or realize soon as a mom that you cannot do everything for your children. You will just have to entrust them to the loving hands of our Heavenly Father. He loves them more..Besides there would soon come a time that you will have to let go of them. Our prayer life is very essential therefore. And most of all, remember and don't ever forget to introduce them to a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST and abide in His word. Being a mom is a big task but inspite of this I know .... you wouldn't want to pass through this life without being one. I'm fervently praying for you...

With Jesus in you and with you, I know that you will be the best moms ...EVER for your children and in the sight of God.

BEING A MOM

17 years ago... Time moves so fast indeed

Christmas 1987 celebration at Evangels For Christ Church, Philippines

d

This is especially for

  • all the moms that I know,
  • all of my girlfriends especially Diane and Danica who would someday be moms and
  • all, as in ALL, yes whether male, female or otherwise who would like to know what is like to be a mom so that you will come to understand your wife or your mom better.

This message " Being a Mother" came just in time that my two daughters and I are in the point of talking about motherhood. From stretch marks to breastfeeding, caesarean or normal births, career or family, ideal number of daughters and sons , keeping fit or being over weight after pregnancy, etc...etc...

Just like me, my daughters are very fond of children and babies and being a mom really excites them. Yes, both of them ! During their teen years, they would rather choose to spend time with little children and take care of them than go out partying, malling, or spending time with barkadas.

At this point though Danica is more interested to talk about re-entering a college or university, Diane on the other hand is starting to express her excitement and desire to be a mom But I do respond to her jokingly everytime .. "but you have to become a wife first." ( Not maybe soon but in the near future -10 years from now ? according to Dad. .. I know she won't agree but we can still bargain ).

I am now in a different stage of my life and in just a little while I will no longer just be a mom but a grand mom as well... to Don's children then Diane's ..Dan's and Danica's. Every word written in this message also reminded me of the joy and pains of being a mother. I was a young mother at 21; the last time that I gave birth was infact when I was 27.

This made me reminisce ...when Don would like to have a girlfriend, yes...but not at age 13 .Diane's letter to allow her to attend a birthday party at MC Donald's and commute with her friends .. yes but not yet at 5th grade .Though at the end of her letter she said "Please trust me, I can take care of myself," she was still accompanied by her Kuya. Dan at 4 years old, made a mistake of riding in a wrong car at a park. I almost fainted when I saw him being carried away by a man. Losing my cellphone but recovered it back ..you know why? Danica remembered the tricycle that we rode in to and when I asked," how did you know?" She simply reminded me, " Isn't it you told us to remember the body number of a cab and tricycle we rode in to and text/call back to you if we're alone or for security reasons."Oh well, I really have many stories to tell..These are just but a few of the many. many many experiences I had as a mom .

********************************************************

BEING A MOTHER ...THE MESSAGE

We are sitting at lunch when my daughter casually mentions that she and her husband are thinking of "starting a family." "We're taking a survey," she says, half-joking. "Do you think I should have a baby?" "It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral. "I know," she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous vacations....

" But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her.I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes.I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but that becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable.

I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without asking "What if that had been MY child?" That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die.

I look at her carefully manicured nails andstylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to primitive level of a bear protecting her cub. That an urgent call of "Mom!" will cause her to drop a soufflé or her best crystal without a moment's hesitation.I feel I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood.

She might arrange for child care but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of herdiscipline to keep her from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right.

I want my daughter to know that everyday decisions will no longer be routine. That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room ratherthan the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma. That right there, in the midst of clattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that rest-room. However she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother.

Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself. That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. That she would give it up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years -not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.

I want her to know that a Cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will become badges of honor.

My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks..I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child. I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic.

I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and drunk driving.

I hope she will understand why I can think rationally about most issues, but become temporarily insane when I discuss the threat of nuclear war to my children's future.

I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to ride a bike.

I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog or a cat for the first time.

I want her to taste the joy that is so real, it actually hurts.

My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes. "You'll never regret it," I finally say.

Then I reach across the table, squeeze my daughter's hand and offer a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all of the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings....

This blessed gift from God!

Being a Mother

PURSUE ON ....

When the going gets rough
And the battle gets tough

Still. I will ...

No matter what lies ahead
and how bleak is the road I thread

Yes. still I will

Just as long you are there
Quiet momments with YOU I share
I WILL PURSUE ON ,,,

TO HIM BE THE GLORY

"Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God
How unsearchable His judgements and His paths beyond tracing out
Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been His counsellor ?
Who has ever given to God that God should repay him?
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things
To Him be the glory forever ."
Amen.

Dear Lord,

Let me always trust Your will because Your wisdom and knowledge would never ever fail. Your judgements are trustworthy and I should never question them. Help me to walk by faith and trust YOUR ways all the time. Give me peace that passeth all understanding and rely on who YOU are.

Truly Your wisdom and knowledge are beyond comprehension but you will reveal them to those who love you in your perfect time. Be with me as I expectantly await the beauty of the depth and riches of YOUR wisdom.

I will walk by faith and not by sight until the fullness of Your wisdom is revealed.

LET IT BLOOM...

If God made a priceless investment in my life, how will I deal with it? Do I have to offer only my failures and weaknesses to Him every now and then. I don't think so . I should view everything else... my abilities , career track , education, yes everything as accessories to a vehicle; they are parts of the means to accomplish my goal to follow Christ.

My Prayer
Yes, indeed Lord, Your investment in me is priceless.. I should allow everything in me to be planted in the soil of faith and let it bloom to its fullest for Your glory.

Let go...

Few days back, I wrote about " Our Tears". Yes, for some reasons I was always in tears. Too many plans of my own and disappointments make me feel weary that I don't know where I am already. Tears of frustration stream down my cheeks. Defeat and despair hang around me like a shroud ....I don't even know which way to turn but I chose God's advice to the psalmist in Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God. Yes. I must cease striving... let go ... and know that He is my God...

Yes, DURING OUR DARK MOMENTS frequently we become impatient and ask God to speak to us immediately. But sometimes God is silent, and we must be silent as well.
I must not refuse to wait on God and I must look beyond my own ideas and wait for God's solutions. He is under control and His will be displayed in His timing.

My Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you.

"For YOUR thoughts are not my thoughts, neither are my ways YOUR ways; as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are YOUR ways higher than my ways and YOUR thoughts than my thoughts.

Consume me ...

CONFIDENT OF WHO I AM...

What happens when the enemy of your soul arouses persecution against you or tempts you to the point of failure? Do you shrink in desperation and defeat ? Yes, he would like you and everyone around you think He won. That is exactly what He tried to say about the crucifixion on Calvary, two thousand years ago.

But the Son of God has already won the final battle for us. As children of God, He is with us and dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. So everytime our adversary comes against us and tries to kill something in us, the momment we turn it over to the Lord, the Christ who is in us , the Lion of Judah - is revealed.
I am not part of the devil's recurring nightmare. I am part of the Lamb of God's insider team.

Yes, if we lean on the Lamb of God in our weakness.... everytime the devil strikes us he is striking the heel of Jesus. With God's power, Satan gets a crushing headache from God everytime He tries to bruise or touch anyone of God's kids.

My Prayer

Lord , I lay down every claim I have of being strong wise, independent or self-sufficient. My strength is found in your strength . I am a branch linked up eternally to the VINE. My strength and my boast are in my weakness and my total dependence is upon Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the risen King of Kings.

GOD LOOKS FOR CLAY

Good looks for people who will allow themselves to be shaped into instruments He requires, to do His divine work.

Yes for a CLAY ... a clay nas no plan of its own, no aspirations for service, no reluctance to perform its given task- moldable pliable, totally submissive to the will of His Master.

My Prayer

Dear Lord, I am your willing servant and as you have said in your word in Corinthians 12:9-10, "...my power is made perfect in weakness...I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF NOTHING

Have this ever happened to you?

Have you experienced offering to do something , make something or give something to God that you value?

I'm sure you do.

And initially God responded by giving you His preferred gifts or plans for the future.

But this is just the beginning of something because you are on the way to find out the truth... that before anything to become something, one must learn first the siginificance of nothing.

Moses in the Old Testament thought He would deliver Israel with a fatal blow but was sent back to the task armed only with a shepherd's flock and the glory of a personal encounter with God. Peter on the other hand offered Jesus the strength of His will and clear leadership abilities but was sent back to the task armed with a gentle reminder of his greater failure and a triple exhortation to feed the Lord's sheep.

Yes, NOTHING IS FAR MORE SIGNIFICANT TO GOD THAN SOMETHING.

When you reach the point where you can't take any credit, you are standing in fertile ground for glory. This is the great significance of nothing.

God literally diminishes our resources until He gets us on miracle territory. When I strip off myself with ME and my own way, a mircale is bound to happen.

The realization of our plans will only start when our resouces ended and His resources began.

I should let YOU, MY GOD be MY GOD ...

It is better to seek the heart of God first and find out what He wants than to make blind assumptions and offer something He has never asked for.

My Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you Lord for the gentle reminder that I'm nothing apart from YOU. Thank you for teaching me to depend on YOU on every life's circumstance. Help me always to feel and have the assurance that ...It is better to do nothing than do something without YOUR leading. I know sometimes it's hard to explain this to many people around me but I know you will make everything clear not only to me but to them as well in your time.

Just comfort me and make your face shine on me once again.

MAKING CHOICES

With every minute of every hour of every day, we make choices and decisions... and we sometimes face crossroads.

But what will I choose to follow and who will be the authority in all these....

No mattter what, I choose to follow MY LORD. Each morning I must make a decision to be aware of His voice and follow HIM. All through out the day, His word must prevail.

Ps. 119:24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

My Prayer

My Sovereign Lord, I choose to follow you no matter what I feel and however strident and persuasive other voices around me are...

Let YOUR WORDS govern my life. Your words are more than enough and they make me strong to choose life in YOU. Direct me in the path of your commands for there I find delight.

WHY DO I BELIEVE WHAT I BELIEVE

An old thought that I have written in my prayer journal...

"There is piety that goes beyond the calendar.
There is prayer appointed for today
which must not be said tomorrow
and which would have been out place yesterday.
There is a mechanical, formal and even disciplinary way of living.
But there is also a religion that cannot give any reason for itself
beyond the reasons which childhood suggests
which love breathes...
which an ineffable confidence clings to...
We must make for all these varieties.
Make room for all and every kind of learning.
Christianity is not a controversy.
It is peace.. it is some gladness of the heart that dares sometimes
scarcely allow itself to hear its own voice,
let it should lose a charm ... a possession infinite .
There is silence that is eloquent."

Yes, being justified by faith through out Lord Jesus Christ, we have peace with God - a peace that passeth understanding, a joy unspeakable and full of glory.

MY PRAYER

Lord, I surrender everything to you. I refuse to wait until my stubborness leads you to knock me off my feet. I'm not willing to delay until circumstances land me in a heap of ashes and broken dreams. I surrender to you right now without limitation and condition. My life is yours to command. Be glorified in me as I live my life of unbroken worship before you.

September 21, 2004

DISHEARTENMENT

Am I losing heart ?

Yes, I am and there are times that I feel and think that I am not capable to change my present circumstance and make a difference in life.

This world's standards make feel unworthy and I'm good for nothing.

Ironically, the Lord always let me feel He is always with me and give me the assurance to continue on and not lose heart because I am very significant to Him. He can do far beyond I can imagine or even hoped for. If and only if I trust His ways and let Him lead wherever He leads me then and only then... something beautiful is going to happen.

Everything will turn futile with my own strength. He can do excellent things in my life if I have a pure and surrenderd heart.

MY PRAYER

Dear Lord,

I know some people would never understand me but YOU , you know me so well and you know what is best for me.

Yes I know that in Your wisdom You know what it takes to keep me attuned to Your direction.

You allow problems to occur that will break my will and keep me dependent on YOU and totally surrender my old self to YOU.

Yes, God break me and mold me into a vessel you can use.

I know that you allow circumstances to control our lives to the point that we must totally depend on YOU.

With this, I am confident that I am underneath the shelter of the Almighty!

Thankd YOU LORD!

James 1:2-3

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

If you want the perfecting of your faith, it comes by way of testing.

DARE TO FAIL

I'm halfway reading the book " Dare to Fail" by Billi P. S. Lim. Just from the title itself, you would know that there is something different with this book that you can't find in an ordinary inspirational book.

When everything around us calls for attention to succeed, this one actually challenges us to take a risk and dare to fail. So, when
I got hold a copy of it, I already expected that it would change my perception about failure. The message is indeed revolutionary; it actually helps me to change some of my wrong thinking and doing at this point.

Yes, nowhere is someone ever rewarded or complimented for failing. If failing is considered a "TABOO" then how can you expect me to dare to fail? Seemingly, everyone not just me has that great fear to fail. Nevertheless though, how can I ever experience succes if I won't take a risk and dare to fail...
Yes the reality of success is a possiblity of failure too.

With Jesus in me, I need to take a leap of faith, take a risk and "dare to fail" . Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." --Theodore Roosevelt

"Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greeatly." --Robert F. Kennedy

My Prayer
Thank you Lord for the thought that just as there is no failure more disastrous than success that leaves YOU out of the picture, likewise there is no success greater than the rediscovery of YOUR power in our lives. We must never be ashamed to confess that we have failed, for this is but one way of saying we are wiser today than we were yesterday.

OUR TEARS

Psalm 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

Yes Lord, you've kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.

Thank You Lord, I know you know every bit of pain that I go through and I know very well that no one who trusts God is ever forgotten by our Saviour. He is ever praying for us . I may feel forsaken and forlorn, but You are always touched with the feeling of our infirmities. You are fully aware of our situation.

In the meantime, help me simply to sit still ...until I see how the matter will fall and learn the glorious lesson that, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).

TO LIVE IS CHRIST

So many questions enter my mind sometimes that drive me into desperation especially in times of great trial. I feel I am no longer the usual person that I ought to be. Could it be that God allows it to happen for a purpose or it is just a deception from the enemy of my soul?

Yes for sure, there is something going on inside of me but if I allow God to have His way in my life then whatever would come should not dishearten but strengthen me. I know not a single instance would happen in a believer's life without His permission.

But Lord... let me experience the joy in You again. Let me be challenged by your purposes in my life. Let me not faint but trust. Yes, life can be meaningless without living it for you. Grant me the peace and joy to pursue on and to enjoy life living for and in you ... for truly TO LIVE IS CHRIST.

Yes to live is Christ. The only thing that I should ask myself at this point is ... Is my sacrifice living? Sometimes we come to a point that we say, " Lord, I am ready to die...to go with you. This is a mistake we make in thinking that the ultimate God wants of us is the sacrifice of death. What God wants is the sacrifice through death which enables us to do what Jesus did, that is, sacrifice our lives. Not—"Lord, I am ready to go with You . . . to death. But—"I am willing to be identified with Your death so that I may sacrifice my life to YOU."

We seem to think that God wants us to give up things! God never tells us to give up things just for the sake of giving them up, but He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having... life with Himself. It is a matter of loosening the bands that hold back our lives. He wants us to be a "living sacrifice"—to let Him have all our strengths that have been saved and sanctified through Jesus. This is what is acceptable to God.
